Sleep Patterns During Infancy

For 3 or 4 weeks after birth the infant sleeps for most of the day only waking because they are hungry. At the end of this time, each interval of the child being awake grows longer, so that it sleeps less often, but for longer periods at a time.

Toddler Sleep Paterns

Up to the 3rd or 4th year the toddler should be put in a habit to sleep for an hour or so before their dinner.
